I first saw the light in 1984 when I was in high school. I heard about it during the day, and a bunch of us went to see it that night. I simply had to see it once I heard about it. We did a lot of partying that night so I don't remember much about that first evening. However, I was intrigued enough to return by myself a short time later. Like I said, I went up there alone. At that time there was no sign on Robbins Pond Road, and the road was not blocked off as it is now. What I saw that night has brought me back many times since. I am not a believer in the paranormal, and I don't know what causes this light, but I know what I saw that night was not car lights. I have heard people talk about how the lights filled up the whole clearing. I too experienced that same thing. It was a totally dark and cloudy night. You could not see your hand in front of your face. The light got so close, or so bright, that it lit up the entire inside of the car. In addition, it was moving up and down the power line. I have been up there other times and saw the headlights, but I have not seen the light that I saw that night since 1984. It's enough to keep bringing me back in hope of seeing the light again. Funny thing is, it was winter and when I went to turn around on the road I got stuck. I had no shovel and no way to get the car out. I had to hoof it all the way back out to Highway 45, where I waved down a passerby, and got some help. Nice guy with his wife in the truck. He was a local and told me that he has seen the light several times, and headlights thousands of times. He must have thought I was weird driving up there all by myself in the middle of the night. This is just my story, and not meant to debunk anyone's opinion
