i've been here several times and have seen the "light" and the light. By this i mean, the common light everyone sees and oo's and ahh's about is simply headlights. It is always white and always red, atmosphere causes the headlights to be other colors but the light in the "notch" in the trees is definately hedlights. The elevation of the location where you park is actually a little higher than the hill in the distance (verified with topographic maps and gps 3d lock) Although you can't see the road from the viewing area it is there, and if you look at any quality map you can see that the power lines run in a direct line north and intersect with m-45.
We had heard rumors of srange happenings at a place called "big rock" which is about a mile distant from the viewing area along the power lines. If you go there you will know you made it there because there is simply a big rock in your path. This area is private property and per "janet the ghost light lady" it used to be open but now because a small fire was started up there by partying teens. The property ownerss have since placed a lot of "no trespassing or you will be prosecuted" signs. From Big Rock it is even more evident that the lights seen from the viewing area are car lights.
The car lights -hereto referred to as the "lights"- cannot be seen as you move down the hill because as you descend you lose altitude and lose your vantage point. Most people who i have talked to and have seen the light -when not in quotes i am indicating the real light- not the "light" mentioned above. Several people i have talked to while at the site who had seen the real light have indicated that it comes from the stream area and moves upwards or hovers in the trees.

Janet also indicated that there are "shadow people" who visit the area and a "Grey man" who used to sit up on the hill to the right and observe the valley with her. She also told me that one one occasion she walked toward the stream and there was an orb hovering above the stream with a portal in it possibly to another dimension. Of these claims i remain dubious but i listened to her politely and looked at several pictures, mostly of orbs which at night can be easily explained (moisture caught by camera flash, etc.) and some "plasma creatures" which had to be point out to me because they just looked like wispy fog. But she did have one orb picture that was taken during the day and it was convincing.

So from what i understand there is the "light" that everyone sees that is car lights and there light that is real and has been seen for years and doesn't stay just in the "notch in the trees".
--NOW FOR MY EXPERIENCE--
I was on site in may and am mostly a skeptical person not believing a whole lot of what i hear and see but always interested in the stories and am a "see it for myself" kind of guy. We went to the light the first night and met Janet and she told us all sorts of stories (recounted in abbreviated form above)we walked down to the stream and on the way back up about 20 yards from the stream there was a drastic temperature change noticeable by both members of our party. We went back to our vehicle and sat and watched for the light and saw nothing for several hours except for the "light" . We left determined to come back on another night when there weren't 10 cars and tons of people drinking, shouting and being generally morons.
We came back on a Thursday i believe (maybe it was Tuesday don't remember exactly) and in the middle of the week you can go out there and be by yourself for we got there and walked from the viewing area down to the stream, across and back up to the other side. We walked back up the path and noticed nothing. we sat in the car and i had my camera setup on a tripod to try some long exposures. Once dusk started setting in the atmosphere became extremely suffocating and oppressive, again i am not a real believer just an interested observer but it felt like you could cut the air with a knife. We saw several tennis ball sized lights at various places in the trees and i believe this was part of the real light, or we were just looking too hard and seeing what we wanted to see. As dusk fell I wanted to get out of the car and retrieve my camera but at the same time i didn't want to it was really odd. I did go get my camera and we sat as darkness fell hard. About half an hour after nightfall in the darkness there was a syncopated tapping on the underside of our vehicle, 5 taps identical and at exact intervals. After about 20 seconds of silence another 5 taps exactly the same as the firs set. My partner and i looked at each other and were like did you do that??? I was ready to GTFO right then. But we persisted a but longer. We saw no lights and after a while another car appeared and like a heat sink, the atmosphere cleared, it was really really eerie.
We came back one more time that week and i really didn't want to go. I felt extreme dread and didn't want to go but I did. When i arrived (on a Friday) there were 4 or 5 cars there and the atmosphere was light and there was nothing at all going on you could feel the difference and Janet was there we told her of our experience and then hung out for a while and then left.
we returned 3 months later and visited 3 times over the last week (September 9, 14, 15) on the 9th we just hung out at the viewing area and noticed nothing.
On the 14th we made it a goal to go to "big rock" we got there and explored the area and it was too dark to take any really good pictures so we decided to come back the next day. However we did explore the rock and there is another portion to the north west of where part of the rock that is near the telephone is. It is about 10-20 yards back in the woods from the telephone pole. It is a larger rock outcropping and we walked around it to thoroughly go over the area, When we got to this part of the rock we notice a faint odor. At first we couldn't identify the odor but then it came to me, it was tobacco, pipe tobacco. We couldn't find the source of the smell but it was odd.
We went to the side of the hill opposite the viewing area and saw nothing, but when we got to the other side where there were people sitting and watching for the light and the informed us that minutes before we arrived a pale green light started half way down the hill and moved toward them getting close to the second telephone pole before vanishing. And everyone was still looking at the "light" i showed them on my laptop that the "light" they were seeing was car lights some believed some didn't but the light we saw (not the green light they saw before we got there) was headlights.
ONE NOTE: on this evening the headlights seemed particularly bright, i know they were headlights because i took pictures with my camera and you can see when you enhance the photos that they are headlights but for some reason they seemed to carry extremely well through the valley and even though they are several miles off still can light the inside of your car. This was odd but could have been something to do with the atmosphere.
The green light that the people saw is what i believe the real light is all about (not that it is just green but that is the color they saw)
We returned to the viewing location and big rock yesterday on 9/15 and snapped some photos, again we could smell the tobacco smell near the big rock which was odd and out of place but other than that nothing remarkable happened.
