I visited the site of the Paulding Light 30 years ago when I was in college. I'll never forget the experience. Not only did the light materialize in the distance, but it changed into several colored lights which floated and bobbed right up the hill towards me and finally dissipated at a point only 6-8 feet above my head to my right. Up over my right shoulder, the lights loooked like floating orbs. I can still "see this" in my mind's eye today. This was not a case of car lights, and it did not involve any drinking. Nor did it involve an over-active imagination. I was the world's biggest skeptic up until that moment. I spent the past 30 years teaching in Colorado... recently retired...and just this summer, I returned to the site with my two college-age daughters. I had hoped that that they would have the same amazing experience. Unfortunately, it didn't happen. While we did see a light or lights in the distance, they never came any closer. This was not at all like my experience of 30 years ago. Obviously, it is not the same every night, and I can see why people would suggest that it is car lights. If you've never seen the lights change colors and come right up the hill towards you ...and float over your head as orbs...you probably are inclined to dismiss the phenomon. BUT, once you've seen the real Paulding Light, you'll know...and you'll never forget it.
