Ok, if I pull up topos and look at the lay of the land, Robins Pond Rd actually travels more North than any other direction. And If I check a line of sight it is very possible that you can see Hwy 45 as it crests a hill north of Paulding. So I find it very plausable to say that the Paulding light is nothing more than headlights. But didn't people see the light before Hwy 45 was there? If so they couldn't have been seeing car lights. Just how long has this light been showing up? Just curious.

A long time. I've talked with some ole' timer from the area..like 80 years old that have told me the Paulding Light was seen before they were born. That their parents used to tell them about it as a young child. Well..if thats true then this mysterious light would have been seen before the automobile was even invented!! From what I've seen with my own eyes...I've never heard of red, green or blue car lights, have you?

One thing I do wonder, since its pretty simple to pinpoint the only place car lights would be visible from (the top of the hill north of paulding) Has anyone just driven to the top of the hill with a cell phone and and talk to someone at the end of Robin's Pond Rd with a cell phone and flash their lights on and off to see if the people at robbin's pond can even see the people on top of the hill's headlights. It'd be a fun experiment anyway.

Thats funny..my boyfriend Bharnz who brought me up there to show me the light for the first time a couple weeks ago..suggested next time we visit we conduct that very same expierement! He worded it to me almost the exact same way! Great minds think a like! Yeah, it WILL be fun to try it. Might answer a few questions in our minds.

That'd be great...except cell phones don't get reception in the middle of nowhere in MI guys!!!

Is there anywhere on planet earth thats really "in the middle of nowhere these days?" Yes! Of corse there is cell phone use avalible there. As a matter of fact..I called my mother..back in Sault Ste. Marie From the site of the Paulding Light. Be careful..homework..HOMEWORK!! keep smilin'..not a big deal. Have a nice day.

You could also use those Motorola high tech walkie talkies to communicate back and forth. How far is the light coming from? Some have written that it comes right up to about 30 feet away from them.

I've been there 4 times and it was always at a distance. Very visable..any time of day..bright at times, dim at times..sometimes, not even there. (but never longer than 10 minutes) Big, small...one light..numerous lights..various colors..all along that old railroad grade..top of the poles...along the bottom..one side of the grade and then the other. One thing I know for sure. It is not headlights. I'm not a college professor or anything, but it isn't too hard (even for a Twenty year veteran radio announcer to figure out) that it IS NOT headlights. Haven't a clue what it IS..but sure know what it ISN'T!!! Heard lots of stories about the light coming real close..even into visitors cars. Those stories are usually in a near by watering hole though. Love that light! Nothing like a good mystery. Makes ya forget about that next credit card payment for a while!
