I'm warning you, its a long story, but you will want to go after you read this. Let me know what you think (dnelsongb@yahoo.com) I'm going back June 26 through June 30 of 2004. If your their, just Yell for me. David Nelson. Who knows, we may meet up. Just an fyi. I'll be protected and with other very large people. LOL Around the end of June of 2002, My nephew Brandon(14), his father Mike(37+) and I (32) went to go see the light. We were staying near Maple Grove Resort on Lac Vieux Desart just 40 minutes south west of Paulding, MI. Around 9:00 pm we hit the road, had 2 rather good Motorolla talkabouts with us. The travel time seems long with anticipation. As you aproach watersmeet, you see a brightly lit building to the right covered in a haze of smoke. It's the casino. My aunt and uncle get lucky in there once in a while. In fact just last week(6-18-04) my uncle pulled in a cool 9G's. Anyhow. getting back to the light.. We finally get to the light, take a left onto the gravel road, our headlights hit the rear red reflectors of the many other onlookers there before us. We hit the parking lights and proceed slowly towards the other cars. Every time I go, I meet many people from around the world there. its so odd, but I really enjoy it. Mike, hes just a big skeptic, never believes nothing. He just went to see what it was about. Brandon and I were itching to go. We decided to venture forward past the first baracade. About 50 yards down the first hill, a bright white light hit us in the eyes. It was small and held about waist height. Ahh were in luck! Someone with a flashlight. We approached and spoke to them. Just then we found 1 guy and 2 girls all in their early 20's. The guy asked us if we ever saw Big Rock. I never heard of it. He said he was their and would bring us there. We agreed, since we had the radios and they had the flashlight. I called Mike on the radio and told him what we were doing. I've never done anything like this before. I had no idea who these people were. And at that particular time, there was a group of people called "Rainbow People" that took over watersmeet and paulding for the week. Thats an entirely different story. All 5 of us walked through the small stream, up the hills, cut right into the woods and tall grass. No real path to follow but finally made it. Big Rock. it was the highest point in which a power pole stood. I really hadn't seen the faces of the people we were with yet. I called mike again on the radio and he was anxious and needed more cigarettes. We looked back, he flashed his high beams so we felt a little more assured someone was there for us. To describe the light is almost impossible. As we stood just to the right side of the giant power pole, it felt like we were standing on a high cliff. The large bare rock beneath us, and a light fox settled in the deep ravene. Mike said do you see it, we didn't see anything. But a few seconds later. a bright glow emitted from the fog. And rising out of this fog was the light. I looked over beside me, and could clearly make out the faces of the people we traveled with. All of our jaws dropped in awe. We witnessed an orb which was about 1 foot of dense brightness. Moving ever so gently accross the air. No strings, nothing. Immediately it turned red and bolted for us. It never really came extremely close, but it was wild. We were almost ready to dart. Mike and I were conversing about what we saw. I bet we were standing there watching this light appear and disappear for about 45 to an hour. We couldn't stay any longer. I called Mike one more time and he said he was going to go get some cigs, since we were on our way back. As soon as he said "over and out" he meant it. At that very moment, we cackling. We all grew very scared. They asked what was it. I thought wolves or coyotes. The cackling sounded like people laughing along the tree line. The laughing turned into not-so-human growling and snarling. Howling and barking. Then we heard something running, getting louder. Then we started to run too. I called Mike, Mike are you there.... No one answered. He LEFT! He had to go get cigs. d**n! We had no idea when hed be back. We just ran and ran. We heard other dog-like fights startup behind us. At that time i was 32 and running like I was 15 again. The group I was with, were much faster than I. I told them not to stop for me or anyone, just keep going. We had no idea what was after us. Running through unfamilliar terran, high weeds and grass, thick woods in the middle of the night. A flashlight swinging all over not giving anyone any bearing as where to go. I felt that side ache kickin in. And it ws getting hard to breathe. The younger group almost lost me. The sounds subsided. We had to walk a little, but then immediately we had to run again. What ever was after us, was catching up. It was definately 4 legged animals. We finally made it past the stream and up the hill. We called Mike again and no sign of him anywhere. We got to the barracade and rested beside their car. All of us out of breath. Finally Mike arrived. It was quite an experience. Amazement, fear, and exhaustion. 3 very taxing emotions on a body, heart and soul. We went back the next day. The entire family did. Mike took a back road which ran paralell to robins road. I walked to the sight with Brand and my younger second Cousin Darren (12). We brought a camcorder, we thoght we were so smart. Nothing could happen to us. We got back to Big Rock again. Didnt see anything. We looked down and it wasn't much of a drop off, but a large gully or ravene. Weeds 5 feet and up. it was swampy and difficult to move. It got impassable. We knew approximately the point at which the light came from. But could not make it. Finally we turned around and headed back up to the Big Rock. We stood there and I took a video diary of what we saw how it happened and so on. The guys were behind me, looking in the same general direction I was. They noticed something in the weeds, it was a bright white light. My camcorder fell, my jaw dropped and we stared at it. As we stood on the rock it was about 25 degrees north east of where we stood, it was below us yet still in the thick of the weeds. I put the camera up to my eye and couldnt find the ight in the weeds because I had been doing some zoom work just prior. As i tried to get a fix on the light, it came at us. the weeds actually moved. We ran. we got to the woods and called the truck with our walkie talkie, I said start the van were on our way. they got scared and drove on that paralell road thinking theyd find us. they went right past us in the opposite direction. We were practially left in a cloud of dust. They got lost and we lost radio contact with them. We just ran back to where we started. Finally we found them and went back. Again another wierd light experience. Something I cannot explain. Can you? I told you it was long. If you liked it, It's copywritten (c) by me David Nelson. If you didn't well too bad anyhow. Please let me know what you think. sorry I ramble on, but its just the way i am.
