When we went to see the light we were standing at the barracade when it appeared. Very bright at the end of the old railroad grade. Suddenly another light appeared below it..smaller and off to our left. There were a few people there at the time and at first were a little freaked out. Then someone said, "Nah! Thats just a flashlight!" Well, as it turned out it WAS. Some kids were down there, not trying to deceive anyone, just taking a walk to check it out. We watched them the whole time..while they were down there and on their way back. The Whole Time the mysterious light was very bright right behind them. As they came back up to the gaurd rail, everyone said thing like, "wow man, that must have freaked you guys out! That bright light right behind you the whole time!" I get the shivers everytime I think about how they replied. "WHAT light?" They saw nothing but darkness. As Bharnz said..I don't know what it IS..but I sure as heck know what it ISN'T and car lights it ISN'T. I can't wait to go back.
If you walk towards the Light from the observation point, you are walking downhill. Eventually the Light disappears from view simply because you are not at a high enough elevation to see it.
It's kind of like this: imagine you are in the front yard facing the front of your house on a late afternoon, looking at the sun in the sky behind your house. Start walking toward your house and lo and behold, you can't see the sun anymore. That's because your house is in the way.
Thank you Phil. Yeah, that makes sence. Don't explain what the heck that mysterious light is but it does explain why you can't see it when you're down there. Thanks for being nice..I'm a little leary to post messages because I'm afraid somebodys going to be mean. I'm going to quit doing it but thanks again for your intelligent reply.
Phil may be right, but only if the light is very far away. When I walked beyond the creek, I came back and everyone said that the light appeared to be between the creek and the guard rail, In which case I also would have been able to see it. However, I saw nothing but darkness. Robbie, I think your experience was genuine, not just some "line-of-sight" issue.
